Welcome to Woodvale is a story of greed and honor, of loyalty and betrayal. It is as well the story of a small town's fa ade of dignity behind which political blackmail and manipulations thrive. When the city council of Woodvale convenes to replace their deceased police chief, most everyone believes the job will go to interim police Chief Jack Taylor. But for some reason, it doesn't. Baffled and hurt, Jack begins to seek out the answers to why long standing friendships were set aside. Simultaneously, the death of Jack's adversary and an anonymous tip that Jack was the murderer causes the mayor to panic and choose someone else to take over the investigation. Jack Taylor has only days before he must hand over the case. His journey of discovery reveals the unexpected connection between his rejection as sheriff and his enemy's violent death. Jack finds out, as well, that Woodvale is a place so taken with itself and preservation of the Victorian style that the fa ade itself has become more important than the truth.
