About the Authors: Gwyneth Rees, Lydia Monks

Gwyneth Rees is half Welsh and half English and was brought up in Scotland. She is a qualified child psychiatrist. The author of Mermaid Magic, the Fairies series, The Mum Hunt (winner of the Red House Children's Book Award), The Mum Detective, The Mum Mystery, My Mum's from Planet Pluto, the Cosmo series, The Magic Dress Shop series and many others, Gwyneth writes full time. She lives near London with her husband, two daughters and two cats.

Lydia Monks is one of the most original picture book artists working today. Her distinctive use of colour and collage has won her critical acclaim and several awards, including the Smarties Prize. Her recent collaborations with Julia Donaldson include What the Ladybird Heard and The Rhyming Rabbit. Lydia was born in Surrey and studied Illustration at Kingston University; a keen Irish dancer, she now lives in Sheffield with her partner and their baby daughter.
