Going back a little in time, Peter Parker and his friend Mary Jane (M.J.) are off to the carnival and she wants to go to the funhouse. In this lift-the flap story, you really do have to lift the flaps to follow the story. M.J. is captured by Morbious, a vampire, and Peter's spidy senses are tingling. How is he going to find her in this crazy maze? It certainly is not without difficulty as he tried a mummy's case and a jungle hut where he is fooled by a monkey's red hair, but finally he confronts Morbious in the mad scientist's laboratory. Spider-Man does his usual job of tidying up the loose ends when it comes to the bad guys. M.J. never realized that the episode was real and thought it was a fantastic funhouse adventure. The illustrations are what you would expect in an oversized comic/picture book—bright and full of action. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
