I Wonder if my readers are as weary of reading as I am of writing all this. I have a duty to God, to the church, and above all, to those who have confided their alms to me so often and so generously. I know that they have a right to be told why I have been unable to carry out a work so necessary for the poor, and for working girls. It has certainly taken me a very long time to realize that there was no justice for me, and no use in persevering, but I have realized it at last.
