A crook who drives stolen luxury cars abroad and brings back drugs decides to blackmail Tim Hawkridge, the son of a retired general, the squire of Tolbrite, about an alleged affair when he was serving in the BAOR in Germany. At the time Tim is engaged in discussions with the Sheikh of Qatar concerning the possible installation and management of a commercial radio station in the Emirate.
