This book has been designed for Chemical Engineering students to introduce them to the detailed mechanical design of equipments, frequently used in the Chemical Process Industry. It also caters to the needs of professional design engineers in industry.
This thoroughly revised and updated edition is expected to help students comprehend the subject in a more realistic manner. Chapters on auxiliary process equipment flow sheets and certain additions related to filters, dryers and evaporators have added value to the book. For some major items of equipment, data sheets have also been included. The write up on mechanical seals has been expanded. The chapter on 'Agitators' has been replaced by 'Mixers' with an introduction to the design aspects of static mixers as well. The present revised edition should be as valuable to students as to design engineers.
