She had drank the water in a much larger quantity, with an amendment of her appetite, and an abatement of the pain, but now had a discharge of a white matter like milk. August 15. Having perfisted in the use of the water to three pints in a day, her appetite and strength returned, the discharge lessened and she had for many weeks past veficular eruptions on the skin, very hot and as it were burning in the night, not by day. I ordered her to perfist in the use of the water. Scrophulous Cases. AS the Sulphureous waters of Mofat in Scotland are eminent in the cure of these disorders, and it was. formerly in practice to fend some of these patients thither from/ this kingdwn, we are now supplied with a water nearer home, in some respects preferable, and from the following instances there seems to be good ground for suppofing it to be equally efficacious. 1. A. D. 1. A. D. 1762. A boy fix years old, had that distinguishing symptom of the Scrophula, a frightful pouting upper lip, together with large fissures in it. He was cured by drinking a dozen bottles of it; and when I vifited him, April 3, 1765, I found that his lip had continued free from all eruption and fissures ever fince, altho' he had not repeated the water, which I advised him to do, the lip being still a little tumid. 2. A. P. 176o. A boy aged 14, had scrophulous fores of long standing; they were dried up by drinking two quarts in a day for several weeks, and his state of health became much better. 3. A. D. 1761. A youth, aged 17, had tupiors of the submaxillary glands: 1763, he is quite recovered, having drank the water for two seasons. 4. A. D. 1760.
