About the Book: Edge of Desire
The Edge of Desire, available in paperback, was published on 15th May, 2012. This novel is an attempt to throw some light on the flaws that have taken birth in the judicial system of India. From crimes based on genders, to the anxiety faced by the rape victims, the book tries to address various prevalent topics.
The novel is mainly based around the life of Shruti Rajan, the protagonist, who is a journalist. She is newly married to Kishangarhs Deputy Commissioner in the state of Bihar. The story begins with Tihar jail, where she was detained in a VIP cell. Shruti was raped mercilessly by Salim Yadav, an infamous man with a strong political background.
Shruti is hell-bent on making sure Salim is punished. But the corrupt state government disappoints her at every step. All her attempts are met with postponements and dismissals. The Edge of Desire describes her journey that lands her into the field of politics. She takes this step to get into the system, so that she can make sure Salim is convicted for his actions.
Sharad Malviya, the leader of the opposition party in Bihar takes her under his party to stand for the approaching Lok Sabha elections. The book describes how she gradually focuses all her energy on bettering the security for women in India and struggles to try and bring changes in Indias rape laws. The emotional, as well as marital problems faced by her during this time is poignantly expressed.
This book is a prequel to his best-seller, The Edge of Power.

About The Authors: Tuhin A. Sinha, an Indian author rose to fame with his best-selling novels. He was born in Jamshedpur in the state of Jharkhand. His works include The Edge of Power, That Thing Called Love, 22 Yards and of Love And Politics. Apart from novels, Sinha has also written guest columns for DNA, The Times of India and Grazia. He has also worked on scripts for TV shows and also worked as an actor early in his career.
